Memorial de Caen D-Day Tour

The Mémorial de Caen offers its visitors the opportunity to take a historical journey through 20th century world - and especially European - history. The Mémorial recounts major historical events from the end of the First World War to the fall of the Berlin Wall, focusing more particularly on the European perspective of these historical episodes. This museum visit is therefore an opportunity to delve into our shared past, with the help of diverse historical documents and objects.

The Mémorial encourages people to think actively about history, memory and peace, and is therefore an essential tool for understanding the world and its transformations. It is also the best way of introducing and explaining D-Day and of understanding in what way the one hundred days of the Invasion of Normandy were a major turning point in history

The “D-Day” tour includes :
- Pick-up at the Caen train station on the morning by one of the bilingual guides of Le
Mémorial de Caen
-Guided tour of the WWII area at Le Mémorial de Caen
-Lunch at Le Mémorial de Caen with the guide
-Guided tour of the D-Day Landing beaches in the afternoon
- An illustrated handbook (A publication from Le Mémorial de Caen) : “The D-Day Landings”
- Drop off at the Caen train station at the end of the afternoon

THE “D-DAY” TOUR
Duration of the WWII area guided visit at Le Memorial de Caen on the morning :
about 2 hrs ½ (except on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays : between 1 and 2 hrs)

Duration of the guided tour on the D-Day Landing beaches on the afternoon : 5 hrs

A complete 4 to 5 hours round trip with a bilingual guide from Le Mémorial de
Caen museum, in an air-conditioned mini-van, including the visit of the following main sites :
• The artificial harbor at Arromanches
•The battery at Longues-sur-Mer
•The American Military Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer
• Omaha Beach
• Pointe du Hoc
